Perhaps you would be interested in trying out the new Flash Renamer before everyone else? I am almost ready to release v5.2. You are welcome to try it and make sure that everything works ok:

If I understand the pattern correctly, perhaps you can do it in two rounds. Use the tag starting at 0 and stepping 2 for each file. Next add the tag again after the first, but this time start at 1.
If you already have a list like this, then you can use the "edit" function.
