Description
PDF Image Extraction Wizard allows you to easily extract bitmap images from PDF documents and store them as normal images in various file formats, such as bmp, jpg, tiff and png. No recompression occurs, yeilding the best possible image quality. In addition to this, the program can also render the pages in a pdf and save as separate images.
Usage Notes
Using PDF Image Extraction Wizard should be self explanatory. The wizard will guide you though a few simple steps and then extract the images for you. Before you begin you might want to read the followiong notes:
- This program can only extract bitmap images. PDF files may contains other images, such as vector graphics, that will not be extracted by this program. (To determine if an image is bitmap or vector graphics, zoom in on the images at least 200%. If the image remains smooth it is likely a vector image, if it gets blocky or fuzzy, then it is probably a bitmap). To retain vector images you can use the "render" mode instead of "extract" mode.
- This program only exctracts the raw image data that is stored in PDF documents. Some programs that write PDF documents save the images in strange ways, such as saving an image in several slices instead of one big image, or saving images upside down. This will reflect into the extracted images. (Blame the original program that saved the PDF file...) PDF Wizard contains functions to correct this by flipping, rotating and merging the extracted images (pro version only). If you are not able to correctly extract images, you can use the "render" mode instead.
- PDF documents can be encrypted and password protected. The author can prevent users from actions such as printing and extracting data. This program will not extract data that is protected unless you provide the correct password (pro version only). Two passwords can be set in the document: user & master (a.k.a. owner). The user password may not give enough permissions to extract images. Master password gives full access to the document. You will get a message if you try to extract from a protected document without the proper password. Note that it's possible to create a protected document without specifying password. You will not be able to extract anything in this case.
- Some documents with large images can take a while to process. Please be patient and wait for the program to finish.
